The Sunday Times announced that Aparito has been chosen as one of Britain’s top 2019 start-up by the likes of Sir Richard Branson.
Aparito was founded in 2014 with the aim of supporting the collection of real-world data, using mobile applications and wearable devices for clinical trials. Over the years the Aparito team has focused on delivering technology solutions to clinical trials in the rare disease and paediatric space, that are notoriously difficult to research. They have now conducted clinical trials on all four continents and researched eleven conditions.
Aparito helps patients, patient groups and pharmaceutical companies, by collecting continuous patient-generated data outside of the hospital setting, throughout the drug development process, providing solutions to capture the “disease in motion” - a unique opportunity to understand more accurately how a patient is feeling and functioning. This reduces the burden on patients, with fewer visits and hospital-based tests and assessments.
Aparito solutions also make it feasible to conduct long-term patient follow-up, with remote and decentralised monitoring. Together, these approaches allow us to better plan drug development programmes, with clinical trials providing a richer dataset to support marketing authorisation and healthcare utility data to support market access.
Founder and CEO, Elin Haf Davies commented “We are very pleased to be named in the Sunday Times as one of the 2019 start-ups to watch. We had a great 2019, and very excited about the foundations set to scale and increase our impact in 2020.’
Aparito provides a comprehensive solution for remote data capture including ePRO, eCOA, Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREM) as part of their technology offering. Other modules includedynamic questionnaires with branching capability, symptom tracking using pre-populated questions and/or free text, photos, videos and voice, medication andrewards and gamification modules.
